The register of births in the Wandsworth workhouse shows an unnamed female child born to Jane GEORGE on 24 December 1867, recorded as illegitimate.
As suggested above, this could be Alice Elizabeth GEORGE, who was baptised on 2 February 1868 in Paddington to 'William George (milk carrier)' and Jane, with the birthdate of 23 December 1867. The father's name given in the baptism register may have been invented, for respectability's sake. Perhaps he was a William Someone-Else, who was a milk-carrier.
The given address in the 1868 baptism record is 3 Iron Gate Wharf. Perhaps the mother Jane married shortly afterwards?
