St Piran old church, Perranzuloe - 1708 marriage, why there ?
« on: Tuesday 06 January 15 16:01 GMT (UK) »
I have a marriage at the old church of St Piran (in the sands http://www.stpiran.org/oldchurch.html) in 1708 between Henry Warmington and Dorothy Arthur (both to have been of St Columb Minor and all their children are baptised back in St Columb Minor).  Records there show no other Warmington baptisms/marriages/burials except another marriage in 1711 for an Edward Warmington (a brother).  If neither groom nor bride had any connection to the place would there be another reason for marriage there.  Was it perhaps a good place to elope to ?  :-\  Bit of a curiosity.
