Here's the details Ben Wood, army number 4745168. Date of Birth 2nd November 1908 or 1910, (debatable this) York & Lancs 1932 - 1946. Royal Artillery Dec 1936 to 6 Jan 1946.
Called to colours 24 Aug 1939
That 1932 onwards to start of the war he was in the Territorials which is like army reserves.
He won the army boxing light heavyweight championship 1935 - 1936 boxing in the Albert Hall in London. Don't know whether that's any good or not.
