I have just looked into this family and realised i have a connection ... Edward Healey who married Sarah Grundy had a daughter Mary Ann Healey b 1840 who married Samuel Hallis

Mary ann named her first daughter b 1865 Martha(Harriet) H
So at least the name lived on ....

Then in their 60's they took on my grandmother as a baby
 she was very fond of her aunt Martha and her adoptive parents Mary Ann and Samuel

Did you ever find the other Martha's in 1851 ? ..

..Any chance that Martha Hunter aged 50 boarding with the Hallis family  in 1911 is connected ???

Sorry those dates don't add up .Forgot to say our Healey's lived mostly in Birkenhead from 1861

Martha junior would have been 74 in 1911 but any of the siblings  could also  have named their daughter Martha too.

Am finding some odd things with this family

In 1841  Martha Healey was with her children
Edward was 22
Sarah  Grundy was living with them but she was aged 36 ...
Status is given as Ind.   What does that mean ?

..Could it have been her daughter that Edward  married ?

What are the ages of  Edward and Martha on that census please plimm is ii before or after the Berwick marriage ?

Ind. ~ Independent - people living on their own means (1841 Census)

under the same roof hence the "//" mark by Martha but seperate household "/" by Sarah - the end of the occupants "//"

eg:

//
John Jones - ag lab
Joan Jones - f s
/
Jones Smith - ind
//

hope that helps

 ;)

Thanks

In 1861 Martha.s son Edward had 18 year old Mary Ann and 14 year old Sarah  then 1 year old George Healey

That seems a big age gap wonder if it was actually a grandson passed off as a son !
