Not surprisingly on a quick scan of the first 20 years on FreeBMD the Lancashire name predominates in the county of Lancashire.

I know I am now so close to accepting John and Mary as parents and, their children are already listed in a spreadsheet. All I need now is proof positive of the written variety.
When William married Emma Blackburn at Croydon, a witness was John (pity it doesn't say "father" - it's just a witness. The signature of William on the marriage entry is identical to the signature of a William who is a witness when Frederick married. Again, not absolute proof but just hoping for that missing link. Looking through all the Census Returns from 1841 to 1911 for the London area, it's amazing how many Lancashires were either Coach Trimmers or Coach Painters so, maybe it was a family business. Thanks for everyone's input - so appreciated.
