george johnston`s great granddaughter
« on: Wednesday 21 January 15 14:12 GMT (UK) »
Hi there ! I am looking for info on my family from county antrim. My grandparents were  Samuel Johnston and Mary Graham Wylie, both born in Belfast, and emigrated to Canada in 1927,app. My great grandfather was George Johnston, who lived  in Broughshane, and was a police officer. My grandmother`s family, resided in Belfast, near the town`s dividing line. Apparently, most of my relatives settled in the town of Ballymena, but I don`t know much more. I  reside in Canada and am the middle of six children, and I am told I inherited my looks completely from my irish ancestors,my dad once said I could easily pass for his cousin`s daughter. If anyone from that county,(Antrim) can help me get started, I`d really appreciate it, Thankyou, Kathleen

The 1901 and 1911 Census are free online here http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/search/

An idea of your Grand Parents ages would help find them. From their believed age when they died you can work out approx when they were born.

Did you ever find more details since your 2010 post?

This family has a daughter Mary about the right age-

It's best to work back checking all possible records to avoid researching the wrong family (especially in a case like this with common names.

Possible marriage:
Mary Wylie, 24 Oct.1928 Belfast (groom Samuel Johnston)
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!
