John Crompton of Eccles
Among family papers given to me years ago is this photocopy of a newspaper cutting, for which sadly we have no publish date or indeed name of newspaper.
It may be that I need to make a trip to Manchester to search through archives of (Eccles) newspapers or Eccles Town council or local associations.
However, possibly there may be a member of Roots Chat who is familiar with this (grand!) gentleman; if so, I would greatly appreciate any help in identifying him and to establish which of many John Cromptons he may be, and perhaps also which newspaper is shown.
