Eugen Huber from Auleata? (German empire)

Hi! I'm lookiing for info from my opa Eugen Huber, he was born in a town called Auleata in 1915 (former German empire) I don't know the name of the town now, or if it stayed within Germany... Anyone with an old map?

His parents were Jacob Huber and Elsa Zehle.

Hi there,

Do you have a copy of the document from which you got the place "Auleata"?  Is it possible it was misspelt or misheard?
Did Eugen emigrate? We might be able to find other documents that will lead you to his birthplace.

I don't have any document unfortunately, this is information I got from my father. (Passed by his mom) all I know is that the place was or is called Auleata , from the former German empire. and the territory now belongs to Russia.

His exact birth i don't have it. Might be either December 30th. or 31st. 1915

He was the third of 3 sons. The oldest : Walter Huber, then (another brother I don' t have his name), and the youngest Eugen Huber.

The three of them emigrated to Mexico, through the port of Veracruz  (don't have a date available)
But I know it was before WWII  and then went back to Germany for military service.

Returned to Mexico after that, then my dad was born in Mexico in 1948.

Auleata (Аулеата, also Aulie-Ata, Аулие-Ата) was the old name of Taraz/Jambyl in Kazakhstan from 1856 to 1936, but it was never part of the German Empire, and apparently only acquired a German-speaking minority in the 1930s with the influx of displaced Volga Germans.

Sure sounds alike, but this not the same city we're talking about. (Probably I'm waaay to mistaken in the spelling of the city -or town- I mention. . But I am absolutely sure, this is a Germany place I talk about. Even my dad's birth certificate says his father, Eugen Huber is of German nationality.

So must be another city or town, with similar name.

Perhaps you should not dismiss Taraz/Aulie-Ata out of hand, as there was a Mennonite settlement there. See:

Guess you're right, this sounds possible.  I really wish I had more information.  I'll keep digging

It's the place name that is the problem. It's way off, either for Germany or for ethnic Germans in other parts of Europe. Certainly, Volksdeutsche were encouraged to return to the Reich, in your case from Mexico with or without encouragement.
