West family living in Newington Southwark in 1850's.

A Valentine West appears in the 1861 census of this area. He's aged 22 and a Warehouse Clerk. From here on I cannot find out what happened to him. He didn't die, get married and does not appear in any more census returns. Does anybody know what happened to him?
West, Alexander, Banham, Balchin.

He could be under a different name than Valentine possibly.

Do you know who his parents were?
Hinchliffe - Huddersfield Wiltshire
Burroughs - Arlingham Glos
Pick - Frocester Glos

If he was born Newington Jun 1839 then he was Valentine John so could be using the name John.

On the 1851 census he appears to also be in Newington with his mother Anna, the images on FindMyPast and Ancestry are almost illegible

Ta for the info but know all that. Yes he was born 1839 and his second name was John. However if he did take that name really I haven't a hope in hell of finding him so many 'John Wests' at this time. However since he gave his name as Valentine in 1861 census and aged 22, a male sensitive age then I feel he's happy with it. So onward and upward. the objective was to use him to get back behind my 'John West' who I cannot get back any further. He said he was born in Middlesex, and there are many John Wests here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! His parents were a Henry West (a carman) and (H)anna(h) Carter. His father was a William West a gardener in Marylebone. Henry had a brother Edwin (a police man) who lived in the same house as my ancestor a John West. I'm trying to prove a link. The images are much clearer if you use prime documentation at the LMA or Southwark lib.

Yes I have been down that route and its not my Valentine. Another Valentine was born about the same time as mine, 1838 ish but he emigrated to Canada and became a Canadian citizen in 1903. So what next Hum.
