John Dunmore Lang BRUCE
« on: Sunday 25 January 15 09:36 GMT (UK) »
John b: 2/9/1846 is the Australian born son of Charles Tawse BRUCE who was born in Scotland.

Some years previously I found an entry via World Family Tree stating he died c. 1936.  Unfortunately the submitter was anonymous so I am curious what proof the submitter had.
I would love to solve this mystery.
Thanks.

No sign of John Dunmore Lang Bruce in deaths between 1930-1940 in NZ (or anything remotely close)

Amelia Jane Bruce (possible marriage in the NZ bdm (if it is the correct lady) 1871 to George Adams she would be aged 32.

I notice in the IGI he is "John Dimmore Lang Bruce" born 1846 to Charles Bruce and
Jane Davis in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia

Givens/Normand (Dysart)

Being looking for him for nearly 21 years.
He never went with the family to N.Z.
Where is he hiding?
Yes, Amelia is the correct daughter.
The 1998 Genanz archiver - Anthea is my husband's relative.
Thanks for your responses.

So Charles and Jane Bruce died in New Zealand?

"Jane Bruce relict of Charles, March 22,  1891 aged 73 years died at Ponsonby, Auckland, New Zealand"

Do you know where Jane and Charles are buried, they are not at Purwera

Now this is interesting

Archibald Bruce, youngest son of Charles and Jane Bruce to Louise Hare (Only daughter to Walter and Harriet Hare), November 9, 1877.

Have you got the family on a shipping list to prove which family members came out to New Zealand? If not maybe the New Zealand Board can help

Family tree circles "Louisa Beatright Hare - married Archibald Daldy Bruce in 1877"

BRUCE, Archibold Daldy
BRUCE- HARR.- On November 9, at the residence of the bride's father, by the Rev. R F. Macolcol, Archibald Daldy Bruce to Louisa Boartright Hare

Archibald Bruce seems to have a middle name of Daldy (There is a person on Ancestry with a photograph of this couple)

Buried at Purewa Cemetary John Bruce, aged 58 on 08 Nov 1904 so this man was born 1846.

Nzbdm - 1904/6300   Bruce John 58Y
https://www.bdmhistoricalrecords.dia.govt.nz/Search/Search.aspx?Path=%2fqueryEntry.m%3ftype%3ddeaths#SearchResults

(I think this is John Dunmore Lang Bruce but to confirm someone would need to order a death printout)

Have you ruled this man out?
