Wreckinton is the abode of George/Rachael S on the Baptism of their Son WILLIAM S, 04 July 1829, St Nicholas, Newcastle Upon Tyne

I did notice George was a Mariner in 1824 (Catherines Baptism) and a Collier by 1827

This is likely Rachels Parents Marriage;
14 Nov 1790, St John the Baptist, Newcastle Upon Tyne
John HESLOP to Catherine HEDLEY
Children seem to be (Fathers occp in brackets);
Hannah, 29 July 1792 (Watch glass maker)
William, 24 Nov 1793 (Glass Grinder)
Both have Parents as William/Catherine
Then;
John, 20 Dec 1792 (Father JOHN, Musician)
Rachel 1797 you have**

As George/Rachel name a Daughter Catharine in 1824 looks possible to me.

Thankyou so much for the help! Sorry it has taken me a little while to reply. My mother and I actually took a trip up to Durham recently to see if we could track down the graves of any of our ancestors, but were unsuccessful. Every snip of information you guys have kindly given me brings me one step closer to knowing who my ancestors were.

Hi Trish,

Can I ask a question about where you got the information you kindly posted from? I have subscriptions to Ancestry, FindMyPast, and I am aware of the FamilySearch website too - but I can't find any one of them where the professions of "watch glass maker" and "glass grinder" are listed. The records about christenings and baptisms seem to be very basic information only, names and that's about it. That's fascinating information, and I would like to see if I can find out more.

All info on on FreeREG.
Taken from Parish Records by Volunteers, amazing People they are to help us!
It takes a while to get used to the Site as often you have to narrow time-frame and use soundex option for the surname.
