I am trying to establish the whereabouts of my grandfather Frederick Richard Nott [b. 1878 in W Buckland, N Devon] between the 1891 census [living with his parents at the New Inn, W Buckland] and his marriage in Reading on 20 April 1904 to my grandmother Maud Mary Richards [b. 1882, Taunton]. He is described in 1904 as a carpenter; sone time between 1906 and 1911 they moved to Wimbledon, where he was a printer-compositor.
The only two 1901 census records that seem to fit a Fred[erick] Nott age about 22 are [1] in Bristol: 'clerk in a tobacco factory', and [2] in Waungader, Carmarthen: 'railway signalman'. However, the GWR employment records [at the NA] for that part of Wales show that a 'Fred Nott' was on the payroll until 25 December 1912 - which cannot refer to my grandfather.
I would be grateful to know any other sources of information about Frederick Richard Nott between 1891 and 1904.

The Bristol Frederick Nott is clearly the son of Edward and Elmily (sic), a Bristol family, so it cannot be him either
