Is it definitely St Helens and not Derby St Prescot?

hi, CAROLE W , the death cert I have says 54 derby street st Helens as the address where he died, dated may 1875 --the top part of  the cert says sub district of st Helens in the county of Lancaster , the last known address before that was 20 Cromwell street widnes that was January 1874, I have been searching for 6 years for George Clarke , but recently discovered he was most probably born john Clarke ,but used the name George throughout his life I have him as George Clarke in the 1871 census in widnes also . -just trying to establish where this address is and maybe why it was so far away from widnes , any help appreciated as I don't know Lancashire at all, im in the midlands x

hi CAROL W, just looked at derby street prescot(its a pub now )  ,this seems to be 8 miles from Cromwell street ,so more feasible ,also his wife mary ended up in prescot union workhouse after he died so this looks more like the correct address , why would it say st Helens on the death cert though , I would be greatfull for your opinion, x

In the 1911 Census there is a 54 Derby Street St Helens, Registration district Prescot, Sub-registration district St Helens. You can see it on the map at http://maps.nls.uk/view/101103635#zoom=6&lat=2570&lon=1680&layers=BT

Bojangles - just for some information on your research - Widnes and St Helens are adjoining towns ..so I went on to AA Routeplanner - click on the link
http://www.theaa.com/route-planner/index.jsp#fromNode=0%7CDerby%20St%7C%7C-2.809223%7C53.429519%7CtoNode=0%7CCromwell%20St%7C%7C-2.736115%7C53.355579

result - Derby St ,St Helens to Cromwell St ,Widnes is 8.4 miles

hi all, to rewind , I have a great grandfather who called himself George Clarke ,I have him through his life other than his birth, I have him in Elizabeth street widnes in 1868-in nelson street widnes in 1869-still in nelson street in 1871 census--in gerrard street widnes in 1872--in Cromwell street widnes in 1874----then the trail disappears , I found on his one sons wedding certificate a few years on that he  called his father  john Clarke ??? was this georges birth name --so I know the last recording of him alive was 1874 and when another son died in 1881 it said on his death certificate that his father George was deceased !!so im looking for a death of a georgeclarke widnes area and cant find a match --I try john Clarke and came up with this certificate in 1875 in derby street st Helens ---under the name john Clarke -------my question is why would they have moved so far away from widnes if that's him, --also I happen to know his wife mary was in the workhouse in 1877 (there are no records to be found ) but my grandfather was born in there (no fathers name on the birth certificate) --my assumption is George"john " had died and mary ended up on her own with her children in the workhouse -----if the address on the death cert is prescot it seems to make sense as mary went into prescot union workhouse which I believe is warrington road , but if it was st Helens they were miles away -----I would love to hear anyones opinions as it really helps with other brains and eyes on the case --thanks x
