** marriage
« on: Thursday 05 February 15 23:31 GMT (UK) »
** was born in 1942 and immigrated to Australia.  Can some kind person look up her marriage please she was from Burnley, Nelson, in Lancashire.  If I can find her married name I can then look up the Australian Electoral Rolls and find my lost cousin.  Thank you if this request is able to be looked up.

Please see http://www.rootschat.com/help/posting_guide.php

Hi,
Sorry, no-one can look up a recent marriage for you. Unlike England and Wales, Australia  have strict privacy laws. For instance here in QLD you will not be able to get a  marriage  if it's less than 75 years old (50 yrs in NSW I believe). Only the couple of the marriage can do that , or if you get written permission from the couple.
It's also 100 years for births .

Most states have an online search site for Historical Marriages, Births and deaths that you can search for free.
https://www.bdm.qld.gov.au/IndexSearch/queryEntry.m?type=marriages (QLD)
https://familyhistory.bdm.nsw.gov.au/lifelink/familyhistory/search;jsessionid=F1F4648C0DE0ACFF67BF942199767FA9?0 (NSW)
http://www.bdm.dotag.wa.gov.au/_apps/pioneersindex/default.aspx (WA)
https://online.justice.vic.gov.au/bdm/index-search?action=getHistIdxSearchCriteria (Victoria)
http://www.genealogysa.org.au/resources/online-databases.html (SA)
http://www.justice.tas.gov.au/bdm (Tasmania - indexes not online)
http://www.nt.gov.au/justice/bdm/ (Northern Territory -indexes not online)

Recent electoral rolls are not online they only go up to 1980- there's also  a very good chance she would have  moved since the 1970's . The National  and the state libraries hold historical copies after that, and only up to 2006.
For the current ones you have to search in person at any electoral commission office, it's to protect peoples privacy.

Have you tried Genes Reunited, or Friends reunited? Are there any relatives that may know who she may have married here in Aus that you can ask, or who keep in contact with her?

Kind Regards :)
