Email notification stopped working

Glad it's sorted for you NJ.

For what it's worth, I turned off my e-mail notifications as soon as I worked out how to (about March 2006!). I'd much rather just look at 'New Replies' and 'Unread Posts' when I come online. I just have e-mail notifications for PMs.

I'm considering that option Gadget; emails are arriving but now marked "Suspected Spam"....... can't win can I?

I prefer notifications if I'm not logging in regularly, alerts me if I'm busy to make time to look in if need be 

added ... I usually go to New Replies first up when I do log in though... then sometimes umpteen pages of unread!

I eventually sorted out my lack of notifications some time back but it seems, from this thread and a couple of previous issues by others, it's connected with RC being down for a time, so good that quickly sorted

Hi Jan,

I think that it was an update of your service provider's spam filter that had caused the problem. If the email are coming through still as "suspected spam" it shows that they have still not "whitelisted" your email notifications.  I do not know how long they will continue to send "suspected spam" emails if they have not confirmed RootsChat as a safe sender.

I was told that TalkTalk do not whitelist (or blacklist) any addresses. Fingers crossed it will be ok.

I am also with talktalk. I don't have email notifications for new replies, as I much prefer to use the 'new replies' button.

However, I am now not receiving email notifications of Personal messages. I have had a few PM's today, but no notifications at all.

It's not of much consequence since a new message shows up in the menu bar towards the top of the page - but I'm just wondering why it's suddenly started occurring.

Talktalk maintain ......"nothing to do with us"........

I too have had problems with PMs.

Having spent more than enough time attempting to deal with TalkTalk (twice yesterday, once today), then Microsoft (chocolate teapot help) I think it's time for yet another reviving brew..................

In fact, the 'My Messages' button is more informative than the 'New Messages' button since you don't even have to click on it to know whether you have something new or not.  As far as I have been able to tell, neither button is subject to sporadic failure, unlike the email notification system.  The solution to the email problem seems glaringly obvious to me.
