Just checking, RustyNuts, to ensure that you are aware that you don't need to order up certificates to see the source material via the GRONI online website, once you've searched for and found a record, choosing the "full" view option lets you see a digitised image of the important part of the original, this option only costs 5 credits / £2. Just wanting to avoid any unnecessary expense...  :)

Hi,
Nancy Hair Sands was born on 23 May 1873 and the birth was registered in Ahoghill. Her parents were Patrick Sands and Nancy McWilliams who married on 11 Nov 1856 in Ahoghill First Presbyterian Church. Their fathers were Thomas Sands and Thomas McWilliams.

The website:

http://www.freewebs.com/snake43/home.htm

lists many of the men from the Ballymena area who were involved in the Great War. If you click on "Weekly War 1915" and scroll down to "58th List 1303 Patriotic Men", you will find that Thos. Moody of Drumrankin, Ahoghill had enisted in the 18th R.I.R. in the week prior to 19th November 1915.  I wonder if this might be your Thomas.

Interesting that the townland of Ballyconnelly is adjoined by both Drumrankin and Drumraw.  I spotted a few other Moody and Sands names who might be related.

Hi Sarah

Tks for the post. Not much help at present as I'm away from home. Very little family history stuff gets done in the summer. I've been trying to pm you but now see that this won't work until you've sent a few more messages. Do let me know how far you've got with your tree.  Did you also send me an email with an hotmail address?  If so, can you resend it?

tks

Just looked at this trail and has great info. I am also a grandson of Thomas and living in Bristol. Soon to be retired and starting the family tree. I cannot remember Thomas as he died when I was young but I do remember nanny Moody and visiting. Please more info and links to get me started especially the Irish connection.
