« on: Thursday 12 February 15 14:59 GMT (UK) »
Hello  not sure if anyone can help me but would like some help... I'm looking for  Robert McKenzie ( having requested his WW2 records) it gives his birth date as 15 /9/1900 born Edinburgh...Because he was married when he joined up , just his wife's name is on the records.I can find no listing in Scotland for his birth . If anyone can help or point me in a direction I would be most grateful  Regards Dee

Hi Dee

Have you got Robert's marriage cert or details from it to at least be able to confirm his father's name (he may have married in England or Scotland)?

Possible maiden surname for mother Mary, that Anne has posted an 1901 census entry for, is McFadyen (lots of spelling variations for this surname!).

Hello Monica  Thank you for your reply.  I have no certificate on hand but he was married in September 1937 in Newton Abbot reg. district England . His father's name was given as Robert William McKenzie . occupation ..Surgeon.  Sorry my information is limited , there seems to be a lot of misinformed  information in the family so how true this is  Thanks again Regards  Dee

I couldn't see a corresponding death in England with the birth date you mentioned, so far.

The occupation for his father from his 1937 marriage certainly wouldn't fit what Ann has found as a possible family census entry for him in 1901  :-\

More work needed for sure...

Anne Thank you for searching and finding the MacKenzie family but the information I have on his marriage certificate differs from the one you've found. It could be the one and same and he gave wrong information for his marriage , I've searched for Robert McKenzie for a few years now but I seem to going round and around and getting nowhere. Thank you all the same... Dee

Ahh, explains why I couldn't find his death with a corresponding birth detail.

Name of first born son seems to match with some form of Scottish naming pattern (such as mentioned here www.halmyre.abel.co.uk/Family/naming.htm).

To add to your headache, worth also keeping in mind that his parents may not have been married at the time of his birth.... :-\

The death cert may have good informant. Perhaps the informant is still alive too.
