Completed: Mary Lythgo b:1796, Weardale
« on: Friday 13 February 15 20:23 GMT (UK) »
Mary (nee Lythgo) married George Rogerson in 1820 and had the following children;

Elizabeth
Mary Ann
George
Sarah
John Michael
George died in 1832 and Mary Rogerson (nee Lythgo) married Philip Clark the next year. They had the following children;

John
Elizabeth
Phillip
Ralph

I have the cert. for her 1st marriage to George but I have not been able to locate the 2nd one to Philip which I believe occurred 21 Jul 1833.

I have searched Ancestry and Family Search and the above date I found in FreeReg. So I am hoping I can get the cert for marriage #2 if it can be located.

Thanks

Richard

Possibly one of the witnesses -Barbara Gowland was the wife of Jacob Gowland who owned Wrekenton Lunatic Asylum - Barbara carried on the asylum after her husband's death until 1848 when she died in the cholera epidemic

I think Phillip Clark's mother's maiden name was Gowland

Thanks Sue,  Yes I knew about the asylum and her later death, thanks anyway.

Clair,
Thank you very much.  I am a member of Family Search (do some transcribing for them as well), but have not been able to get actual images like this.  Am I missing something in my search technique or is this just for Lamesley?

Thank you both

Richard

Hi

On home page of FS hover over SEARCH and click on records.
There should be a world map on the right, click on 'browse all published collections' written underneath it.
Click on 'United Kingdom and Ireland' from list on left hand side of page
Half way down next page click on ' England, Durham Diocese Bishop's Transcripts, 1639-1919'
Then click ' Browse through 106,352 images '

I think you can handle it from there  ;D

Claire,

Thanks for the instruction.   Been using the site for a while but obviously not to the fullest. It's a good day when you can learn something new

Thanks

Richard
