Rendle from Plymouth
« on: Saturday 14 February 15 18:19 GMT (UK) »
Hello,
I have a family handwritten note which indicated that a John William Rendle married a Louisa Gibson Hart but I cannot find any confirmation record of this beyond an 1851 Census which has his wife as a Louisa G Rendle. He was born in 1802 and died in 1859 and was a wine merchant. she was born in 1807 and died in 1884. Can anyone help to find confirmation of a marriage other that the 1851 Census.
Also John William Rendle's father was Reuben Rendle b abt 1765-1836, and his father I believe to be a William Rendle 1718-1812, and his father a William Rendle b. 1695. Can anyone please confirm, deny or extend this line please.
Kind regards,
Nick Bennett

London Standard, 10 May 1853
Marriages
On the 9th inst, at St James's Norland, Notting Hill, William Gibson, son of John William Rendle, Esq, of Plymouth, to Harriet W., youngest daughter of the late Francis Lambert Esq, of Coventry Street and Acton.

Doesn't "confirm" the marriage you are looking for but the "Gibson" is possibly significant?

Thank you hanes teulu. The marriage in your first post is the marriage of John William Rendle and Louisa Gibson Hart's son William Gibson Rendle to Harriet Walker Lambert. In your second post the Reuben Rendle that was baptised 1765 is the baptism of John William's father Reuben whose parents, I believe, were William Rendle and Mary Toms from Plympton Earle whose father was Reuben Toms. Name fits rather well!!
Thank you also to Keyboard86............. This must be the marriage evidence I was after. Father Reuben WAS a Druggist and William Gibson, their first child, was born in 1827. Nice one thankyou..... Can you furnish me with pictorial evidence of what you discovered or give me a link to it?
Looks like that is one down.....but still would like it if anyone could go back further as per first post above.
Thank you again to hanes teulu and Keyboard86
Nick

Hi Keyboard86............. I was just reading again what you put in your post. You seem to be saying that John William was a Druggist? I knew that his father was a Druggist but the 1851 Census has John William as a Wine Merchant!! Interesting, and I know a lot can change in 26 years. He must have changed his vocation! I haven't found John William in a 1841 Census but you don't tend to get professions in 1841 Censuses anyway. I subscribe to Ancestry and would love to get a pictorial representation of what you found pls.
Best Nick

Re John William Rendle "Druggist", as well as appearing on his marriage cert (unusual to see this information recorded pre July 1837), it is the occupation that appears on William Gibson Rendle's baptism 12 Sep 1827 (born 20 March 1827)
