Norman sword
« on: Sunday 15 February 15 10:02 GMT (UK) »
Norman born 8th may 1899 son of James and Isabella sword.  Can anyone tell me when he died and what of.  I know his widow remarried in 1925 but I cannot find his death.  He is listed on the tynemouth  World War One commemorative site but I amconfused as he married in 1919 and had a daughter iris in 1920 so he didn't die in the war.
Thanks

Hi,

Welcome to Rootschat.  :)

Have you discounted the death of a Norman Sword  in 1921?

Norman Sword   MarQ 1921   Tynemouth  10b   324     age given = 21     (from FreeBMD)

Copy of the certiicate will give the cause of death;  possibly from injuries suffered in WW1.

This looks like his service file, available from TNA as a download:

Thanks for that info.  I have paid for the service record.  Do I need to order a death cert to find out what he died of or can it be viewed on screen??
Thanks jamman65

Hi,

You need to order the certificate from GRO:

http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/

Cost is £9.25 and will be posted to you; not yet able to view onscreen.
