it is saying Mother is Wardle too  :-\

When the mothers maiden name in the index is the same as the childs surname, it often indicates the child was illegitimate.
But only one way to find out - as has been said, buy the birth cert!

Can be ordered online from www.gro.gov.uk using the reference from the index.

The GRO Death index and trees at Ancestry suggest he died in Southampton in 1987.
