"MILLBROOK" Chobham, Surrey...............

An ancestor owned "Millbrook", situated about 4 & 1/2 miles from Woking. At his death in 1921 a description of the property then for sale, was advertised in 'The Times' on 5.4.1921 as a "Very choice Freehold Residential Property":-

"Containing some seven bed and dressing rooms, bathroom, three reception rooms, lounge hall and offices; electric light; company's water; central heating; pleasure and kitchen gardens; orchard, two meadows, glasshouses, farm buildings &c., in all about 13 acres 1 rood."

Can anyone give me an update on this property with maybe even a photograph please?

Was he living there in 1911? What's the reference/details for him?

There is a Millbrook RSPCA centre there now, couldn't find an old house though.

Here is a 1920's map, there is a Milbrook there that looks to be what you may be looking for.  Above it is a 'Milbrook house' set on a main Road,  which doesn't look to have the land described in the article provided.

PaulineJ: John Hammond GALBRAITH  was my ancestor. He was living in London at the time of the 1911 census.

Regorian: I had a feeling that it may be the RSPCA centre now. So nothing left of the original "Millbrook"?

I live near Chobham - as far as I know the only Millbrook around here is the RSPCA centre. I don't mind going down and taking some pics if you still want them, but I won't be able to do it till the end of the week. If you find that it's a different place let me know.

Happy to help - it's quite a big place, I'm sure they wouldn't mind me poking around a bit I know someone who works there too. To be honest I must have driven past it thousands of times and never taken much notice other than to see the horses in the field.
