« on: Sunday 22 February 15 23:13 GMT (UK) »
Hi
Would anyone have any information on my 4th great grandparents William Neal 1776 - ? and his wife Sarah Rice 1767 - ? both from Wiltshire and their parents (Jonah Neal and Frances Clark) and (John Rice and Elizabeth ?).
Thank You
Stephen

Hi Stephen,

All I can tell you is that William Neal married Sarah Rice in Shertson Magna 30-12-1790

I don't have any baptism records for this parish so I can't help there.

Presumably you already have details of the parents marriages.

Both were baptised Sherston-Magna, parents as you have noted. William 29 June 1766 (not 1776).
Sarah 20 April 1767. Sarah seems to be an only child but records not easy to search.
Williams’s siblings are probably Mary 1763, Katherine 1769, Sarah 1773, Susanna 1775, Ann 1778, Jonah 1780.

The only baptism I can find for Jonah Neal is at Sherston-Magna on 22 Oct 1733, parents
Daniel & Mary.
Jonah married Frances Clark there in 1757. Mary baptised 1763 was their eldest daughter.

The only baptism in Wiltshire for John Rice is 29 Oct 1732 Luckington parents Thomas & Mary.
No clear marriage for John.

A Sarah Neal age 75 died in q 3 1852 @ Malmesbury West - Vol 5a p26. A William Neal age 87 d q1 1854 @ Malmesbury West - Vol 5a p33. Sarah is in the 1851 census @ Sherston but not William. She is with children Thomas and Sarah and g daughter Mary.

Hi jrc11
Was Sarah the daughter of Sarah Neal or was Thomas the son.

Jonah Neal is my sixth great grandfather. His father was Daniel as mentioned. Daniel's father was Ambrose (05-12-1675 Sherston) who married Elizabeth Long 26-12-1703 in Easton Grey. His father was John Neal.

Williams siblings were (all Sherston) Mary 1763, Katharine 1769, Sarah 1773, Susanna 1775 and Anne 1778. I have detailed info but not on me right now. I'll have to get back to you.
