I have come across two names on my search--John Prescott 1789--Mary Prescott 1799  what i would like to know is whether the dates are births,are they brother and sister-i have a Nathan Prescott and wife Mary on the 1841 census --is it possible to find any names/info pre 1830-1840 related to these two people--many thanks George

What kind of document mentions those people?

Anything pre 1841 census, and pre-1837 start of Civil Registration will be on Parish Registers.
So, which county? Which paridh?

Nathan Prescott is bc.1800 Sutton, Lancashire according to census.

However, all his children are baptised at St. Helens, Lancashire per familysearch:

Nathan Prescot married Mary Vose 17/1/1825 Rainford, Lancs.

Nathan Prescott bp.9/3/1800 St. Helens, son of John and Alice.

He appears to have been their youngest child having married 1778:

John Prescott married Alice Naylor 21/9/1778 Prescot/St.Helens (both places shown).
