james and annie DIAMOND
« on: Thursday 26 February 15 18:03 GMT (UK) »
HI everyone.
i know this is a long shot but due to the help i have had before i am going to take a chance :)
in my search i have a james diamond who married a annie mcfall on 6 march 1857 in maghera co.londonderry n.ireland,i have found they had a son either thomas or james born 27 aug 1863 in ballyknock maghera co.londonderry, the story is that shortly after this time they emigrated to australia and that is the last of any details on this family, can anyone point me in the right direction,
thanks in advance

Hi zander,
Do you have an approx year of birth for James DIAMOND and his parents names please?  It will help to eliminate some of the possibilities

I stress that this is only one of quite a few possibles for their son,

Death, Victoria 1933, reg #592
Thos Jas Diamond, 71
Birth Year:   abt 1862
Died at Fairfield, Victoria
Father's name:   James Diamond

In this case his mother's name has not been recorded - probably not known to the informant of the registration.

zander, his father would not necessarily have been alive at the time of Thomas James DIAMOND's death; indeed, as you say, he probably wasn't.

Australian death records require the names of the parents of the deceased which can be most useful in tracking down records and which is why Rosball has asked you for the names of the parents of James DIAMOND and Annie McFALL.  Of course, the person giving the details to the registrar may not know the names of parents or may not know about the early life of the deceased, nor may they know the exact age of the deceased.

Australian records can be very helpful so long as the informant is able to supply all the information required.

Hi,
Searching by their parents names James and Ann(e) and Anna McFall,
Elisa 1858
John 1859
Ann 1861
All in the area you have stated.
Different spellings of the Mother.
Can't find Ann McFall birth record  in County Derry.
There are 3 James Diamond.
Look at the spelling, two children were spelt DIMOND.
You would have to contact the office in Derry City and ask for a copy of the Marriage.
Google            Derry City BDM
Can't fin any ship records
Sorry.
I hope I have helped.

Hi,
The site is called rootsireland.ie
Check the fees, it's expensive if you pay to view.
Not all the records are in yet as this is an ongoing project.
The marriage of Ann and James is also there.
The site is easy to use.
Ok,
Maggsie
