There is one Henry H France b 1925 on FreeBMD -- is this your father? Mother's maiden name Nutkins. Where was he born?

George Thomas France m Elizabeth Nutkins in Southwark 1908. Are you getting the generations confused? Where do you think Mary Ann Emmerson fits in?

So Mary Ann E was possibly the paternal great grandmother    ::)  --

OP, why don't you give us a bit more info about your father/grandparents, stuff that you know to be the case, and I'm sure that if any unravelling of the previus generations is necessary, this site will help you do it!

Looking at that 1891 census, there is a scribble that makes it difficult to read, but I wonder is Mary A Emmerson is actually 80-something years old. There is a nice clear figure 5 further up the page and it looks significantly different from Mary's age, and being 80+ would make sense of the statement that she is "mother" when head of the house is 60 yr old Mary A Berzyowski. George would then be Mary A B's grandson, not Mary Emmerson's, pushing things a further generation back.

Yes it is bad and except for the 1881 no sign of them.
George Thomas France's war record gives a birth date of 8.8.1887 occupation dock labourer
seaman 1915 and not much else.
The Gro has George Francis France Sep 1887 Camberwell 1b 54.
