Hi,
We are searching for more information on the family of our Sarah Cox who was born around 1804 in Shropshire. Have had no success in finding her birth records so far.
She married John Cox on the 30th April 1832 at St. Marylebone London. They had several children and after the death of John Cox, Sarah Cox migrated to Australia around 1865 with her daughter Annie M Cox. Her husband John Cox was in the 73rd Regiment and came to Australia around 1810 where he was posted for 4 years, and whilst there he searched successfully for his father Francis Cox a Convict who had eventually settled on the waterfront of Sydney Cove as a Whitesmith/Blacksmith. On John Cox's return to England, we can only think that he returned to his Mother Margaret Cox in Shropshire, where maybe he met our Sarah and then returned to London where they married in 1832 and settled at 26 Lower William Street, St Johns Wood.
Sarah's Death certificate shows that she died on the 21st July, 1888 aged 84 years, at her home, St. Johns Wood Cottage, Leichhardt, Sydney, Aust. Her parents are shown on the death certificate as George Arthur Jones, Stonemason and Mother as Susan Bailey.
Also shown on her death notice is that she was the niece of the late Sir Watkin W. Wynne of Blue Haven Wales. Am thinking maybe the 4th Baronet of Wales. Have been unable to find any connection there either.
We are at a loss to find her family heritage so far, and would really appreciate any assistance we can get.
Thanking you in anticipation
Regards
Jan
