There's a Margaret Evans, widow, age 59, Inn keeper, born Llanelly on the 1881 Census (ref RG11  5374  49  6). The address is "Sandy Row (White Horse)". I have seen reference in Welsh newspapers to "Sandy Row, Pembrey Village".

With her is her daughter Elizabeth, age 24 and a sister in law Margaret Evans. However, looking at "your" Margaret on the 1861 Census (husband John?) and the 1871 Census cannot see an Elizabeth in the household.

I cannot see a death in the Llanelly Reg District between 1871 and 1881 that would fit "your" Margaret, although there is a death in Newcastle Emlyn, Dec 1877, of a Margaret Evans, age 56

I wonder if anyone can help. My Great Grandmother is down as living in the Old Colliers Arms Pembrey in the 1901 census. I want to find out who her husband was and further links back into the past. I have got stuck here in my researches.
Thanks very much.

A warm welcome to Rootschat.
You haven't named your great grandmother. Is that deliberate?

I've found the Colliers Arms in 1901. Would your great grandmother be one of the children or the last named at that address?

Thank you very much for your welcome and quick response. My great grandmother is Mary J Jones. Incidentally how do you find an entry in a census from an address alone? When I do that in My Heritage, I have to scroll through thousands of results to try and find it.
Regards

The Colliers Arms I found on the 1901 Census does not include a Mary J Jones.

I suggest you open a new thread with Census details (ideally including Census reference) of the "rellie" you are chasing rather than continue under this old thread.

regards

Thanks

Here is a copy from Myheritage of 1901 census entry for John Jones.

1901 England & Wales Census
Birth:   Circa 1891 - Pembrey, Carmarthenshire
Residence:   1901 - Old Colliers Arms, Pembrey, Carmarthenshire, Wales
Mother:   Mary Jones
Siblings:   May Jones, Thomas Jones, Catherine Jones

You are right it doesn't say Mary J Jones, I put in the middle initial J fromanother bit of research.
