Woodbridges in Feckenham
« on: Friday 06 March 15 17:29 GMT (UK) »
I'm a descendant of Thomas Woodbridge & Mary Wilkes.  Thomas was born in 1750 in Feckenham and I haven't as of yet gone any further back in the family.

However, I've discovered there are a number of other Woodbridges who were baptised & buried in the same area.  Thomas for example I know to be buried in the St John Baptist church in Feckenham and there are a number of Woodbridges buried in the same churchyard.

In particular there is a Nathan (or Nathaniel) Woodbridge b: 1744 to the parents of Nathaniel Woodbridge & Mary Wiggett.  There are a number of other children born to the same parents.  I suspect that Nathaniel (1744) could well be a cousin to the Thomas I descend from.  And Nathaniel senior would be the brother of whoever Thomas' father is.

A few baptisms I have seen online also fit in with the family as they all worked in the Needle Industry.

Do, you think I may be on the right line in regards to the cousins?

Or Nathaniel and Thomas could be brothers, with your Thomas also being a son of Nathaniel and Mary.
Or more distant cousins.

Looks like you need to spend a happy day or two going through Feckenham PRs and piecing together the families!

Hi Lizdb,

Thanks for the reply.  A trip to the Worcester Library is on the cards.  Interestingly,  I have since discovered that there is a succession of Nathaniel Woodbridges, a name passed from father to son.

Nathaniel born c. 1668 to the parents Nathaniel & Eliza.  He had a brother named Thomas who born in 1688.  And they are all born & baptised in Feckenham, Worcestershire.

So, the Woodbridges have certainly been residing in that area for sometime.
