finding a grave site

Hi,
  can anybody help me

my (unknown to me) uncle died in Ashton under Lyne in Mar quarter 1968 AGE 51.

I'm trying to find his grave, i have scanned the books at Dukinfield office, contacted Manchester city c office and Stockport ALL without luck, he's nowhere, he never married lived with his mother till death, she's in Hurst and his brother (my father) in Dukinfield..... any help would be gladly excepted

Is it possible that he was cremated ?

i have checked Dukinfield cremations and with no luck as with Manchester city,

thought maybe mother kept the ashes, but no record of him. very strange
