« on: Sunday 08 March 15 07:52 GMT (UK) »
Can somebody please decipher the name of the residence on this  census ? http://interactive.ancestry.com/7619/ESSRG10_1693_1695-0446/4053220?backurl=http%3a%2f%2fsearch.ancestry.com%2f%2fcgi-bin%2fsse.dll%3fdb%3duki1871%26h%3d4053220%26indiv%3dtry%26o_vc%3dRecord%3aOtherRecord%26rhSource%3d6598&ssrc=&backlabel=ReturnRecord

It looks like Guithaven cottages to me.

Edit I have just realised that it is probably Quiethaven.

It's probably Guithavon. There is a Guithavon Road further down the hill from Chipping Hill. If you follow the enumerators route he goes in a large circle ending up at Guithavon Road

Thanks very much for that Jay. I have just spent a very interesting couple of hours going on what are probaby  false assumptions. Back to the drawing board
. :-\

Edit
Now the good news. Bearing in mind  the proximity Guithavon Valley, Witham to Cheshunt seems to have formed a link in the extended tree of the Kirtlands which I am undertaking to understand.

Whilst  researching my late mothers line of the Kirtland's who it seems  were predominantly Blacksmiths and publicans , I found William  Kirtland of Chesunt (which  I thought may be a transcription error for Chesham) and it has been confusing me for some time.

My mother's line came from Charlton on Ottmoor Oxon. (if interested more here http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=597886.81 ) and I have been having difficulty in sorting out where the family came from and how it dispersed around the country.  Much of this difficulty is due to the Christian way names seem to be repeated, often in a certain order, down the generations.

As I said, back to the drawing board, but better informed. William went on to live in Slough?

Good Luck in your ongoing searches. I read the thread in your link and it certainly looks like you have a lot of info to sort through.  Glad I was of some help
