george PAIN
« on: Tuesday 10 March 15 05:32 GMT (UK) »
I am trying to find family history for George PAIN, my grt/grt  grand father.  He emmigrated to Victoria ,Australia in early 1860's and married 1862, in Brunswick.  His marriage certificate shows his parents as George PAIN and Mary Anne JONES, and he was born Wrotham Kent, England in 1823. He married a Catherine McMAHON, born Limerick, Ireland. I cannot find any immigration record or any of his family history in England. Can any-one help please.

There is a george Pain, s/o George and Mary baptised 2 Mar 1823 at St John in Thanet (Margate), will look for some other possibilities later. Father George is a coachmaster.

George was relatively old to marry at age 39. Do you know if this was his second marriage?

Do you have George in any of the UK censuses prior to his immigration? (that would be the 1841 and 1851 and perhpas 1861 as well)

George's will has him with quite a bit of property and land, daughter Emma Jane born in 1859? (Marriage in 1862?)
I think we need kibob to come back and fill in some blanks. A few different options of a George Pain/Paine/Payne arriving.

1851 has George Pain, 27, married, waiter, born Margate, Kent. This should be the George s/o George (coachman) and Mary Ann born 1823 in Margate.
