Looking for information on my Great Grandmother Elizabeth Carlin.  Born 1867, Ayrshire, Scotland.  Married to James Harris, relocated to Los Angeles. California approximately 1920s.  Need to know fathers first name and mother's first and maiden name and if there is any Irish ancestry.

There is a U S Naturalization for a Elizabeth Carlin Harris gives a birth date of 17/12/1867 Glasgow husband James deceased by 1935 ..
Second record dated 8/2/1938 gives her address as 1150 84th St Los Angeles California family members Marion/Elizabeth/Jean / Charles /James and Robert is this the same Elizabeth?
Marriage date July 12 1888 Glasgow

1841 census would indicate that Ross Carlin was born in Lanarkshire, abode Palace Row, Old Monkland, Lanarkshire. He was the youngest of 5 children, his eldest siblings were probably born in Ireland 1826 & 1829, but not noted on the transcription. First born Lanarkshire 1831. The head of the family is Cathran McLan age 50 born Ireland.
Ross Carlin married Grace Brannan 1 Dec 1865 Abbey Paisley, Renfrewshire.

Is it the same person born in Glasgow ?

There would only appear to be one person in Scotland by that name. In 1891 Holm Road, Lesmahagow, Lanarkshire, Scotland. Ross is noted as born Springbank, his wife is noted as Grace Bramner born Kilsyth. Elizabeth is noted as age 24, unmarried. Most of the family are present + 3 grandchildren. It would be worth checking the originals on Scotlands People.

I seem to be hung up on Cathran McLan, and wonder how she fits in.  Was she Ross Carlin's mother?  If so she had gone back to her maiden name (maybe a widow) or was remarried.  Can't seem to confirm any further information on her.
