my Father John Harold Douglas Barnes married when in the royal navy
He married a violet Ann Purvis in Byculla Bombay India 1943,he was aged 21 and violet was aged 32
problem is I know she came to England but cannot find her on any passenger list, any ideas please,thanks

What is the expected timeframe for her travel?

He married my mother 1951 so I would say from 1943 to 1949 hope this helps,Thankyou

I assume that you believe/know she travelled by sea. Perhaps she travelled across land.

If they did come by sea, perhaps they came on a military vessel & thus weren't included in civilian records?

Did Violet die before John's remarriage, or was there a divorce?
