"Passeementerie" !! COMPLETED with many thanks
« on: Saturday 14 March 15 08:00 GMT (UK) »
As Mr Google doesn't seem to know the answer, I thought I'd ask the REAL experts  :o

I have a newspaper cutting regarding a marriage in 1893, in Leeds - the bride's attire is described as

"a gown of electric blue whipcord, handsomely trimmed with passeementerie, and brocaded silk sleeves."

Any thoughts, anyone?

Thank you for those few kind words  ::)  Good job I don't have the 1893 dress then, isn't it?  It possibly travelled to Canada.  I was only being nosey, in the first instance  :-X

I know now, but that was how it was spelt in the newspaper article, and as I didn't know what it was, I didn't question the spelling - and Mr G didn't offer me an alternative!  BUT Rootschatters are superior, which is why I posed the question here  ;D ;D  AND got the answer of course.
