1626 Marriage
« on: Sunday 15 March 15 20:46 GMT (UK) »
Can anyone decipher the name of the bride (circled in red) in this 1626 marriage in Bradford? The groom is Nicholas Pratt.

Many thanks!

Possibly Alice Farbard, although I'm not happy with the initial letter of the surname

Yikes....my best guess (without looking very closely at other letters on the page was Ann Lombard. At least we seem to agree on the last 4 letters of the surname! Let's see who else has an idea? Thanks.

Looking at the clearer image on Ancestry, it's definitely Alice, not Ann.

The surname starts with C ('hot-cross-bun' style). The best I can suggest is Canbard, but I'm not convinced about the 2nd and 3rd letters.

The Ancestry citation shows "Anne Casbard". I agree the first name seems to be Alice. Anyone else have any suggestion? I had never heard the term "hot cross style" for a "C".

Yes, could well be a crossed "C" - there is another four lines from the bottom, but I can' t make out the rest of the surname there either
