Help finding john
« on: Tuesday 17 March 15 20:32 GMT (UK) »
Hi
I have found my ancestor John walkey in the 1871/61/51 census

I can see he is married to Jane. But I cannot find a marriage for them.

1871 RG10/2255
1861. RG9/1542
1851. HO 107/1905

In one of them it is transcribed as Jane veal walkey. This can't be correct!!

Any help is much appreciated
Thanks
Sara

Hi Sara,

Have you seen the marriage of a John Walkley in q4 1847, St Columb ?
Vol 9 Page 89

There are two on the same page with the name Jane. The location and time would appear to be correct as Thomas Dunstan Walkey was born 1849, St Columb.

Thanks, I hadn't found that.
With regards to the spelling, would that be just a transcription error?

Many thanks

That's great, thanks so much. I had seen he was an innkeeper, looking into which inn!
