GOLDING family - Kirby le Soken. Essex (Tendring)
« on: Wednesday 18 March 15 11:59 GMT (UK) »
Hi.  I am researching my GOLDING family from Kirby le Soken. Essex (Tendring).
The Golding family all lived in Kirby
and I have got back as far as my 5th Gt Grandfather: Thomas Golding who was married at St Michaels Church in the village of Kirby to - Elizabeth Brown.

"He was aged 16 when he married in 1790 - which would make his birth year 1774".

I have a wealth of info' on the family (census's, names, births, deaths and marriages
"BUT" I am totally stuck on where my 5th Gt Grandfather: Thomas Golding was born.

Did he come from Essex or SUFFOLK !!

If anyone has any information that could help me move on with my search, I would be SO happy.

It's driving me CRAZY  :-\

Thank you - Denise

Denise,

Welcome to RootsChat :)

Have you got the year that your 5th Gt Grandfather Thomas Golding would have been born at all?

Trystan

This doesn't help with your question, but as an aside, keep in mind that Barbara Windsor discovered Goldings from Suffolk in her famly tree in Who Do You Think You Are. It would be interesting to se if you can make a connection. :)

Hi Trystan

Sorry, very important to give dates.

He was married in Kirby, Essex in 1790, so by my calculations he would have been born approx 1770.

Thank you - Denise

I have links to some of the Golding family in my tree.
Like the Garrad's and Constable's they come from the Suffolk/Essex borders!

My lot are from Bures St Mary, on the Suffolk side of the River Stour;
Some relatives are from Bures Hamlet, across the bridge on the Essex side of the River Stour!

I am also linked to Barbara Windsor, as well as John Constable (RA)!!
Garrad (Suffolk, Essex, Somerset), Crocker (Somerset), Vanstone (Devon, Jersey), Sims (Wiltshire), Bridger (Kent)

Hi again Trystan

I have been down the Barbara Windsor route (I also live in Sudbury, Suffolk just up the road from Bures) and there is no connection to her (unfortunately).  Thomas Golding's place of birth is a real stumbling block.

I am also on Ancestry and have searched for him on the Essex and Suffolk listings - nothing  ???
