Perhaps, then Jane is Margaret.

Thanks for your help Heywood,
it is totally confusing, cos Jane had a sister called Margaret that married someone called Mc Court, so it cant be her. I think this is going to puzzle me for a while  ???
Thanks again

Where is the McCourt/ Maguire marriage?
Just noticed younger Margaret in 1881.

Hi Heywood
It was Catherine Maguire who married henry McCourt in 1913 Catherine is on the 1891 census for Scarborough, and on the 1901 with her mother Catherine, this is where it gets confusing ??? are they the same family that are at Cow house Bank in the 1881 census.

I think they are the same family but you will have to compare the various bits of information.
1861 3604/68/18 Thomas Macguire is a 'corn ripple (riddle)  maker'   ??? which sounds like a sieve maker to me.

Looking at Ruth
1861 birth in Monmouth.
1871 born Monmouthshire
1881 4814/103/8
Possibly a servant born Stillington, Yorkshire

This is interesting
1891 3947/93/4
William Maguire 25 yrs, b Scarborough, with cousins, James 27 yrs, Mary, 26 yrs and Ruth 28 yrs - all born Whitby.

1901 and 1911 Ruth looks to be in Whitby.

Of course, none of this helps with Jane.
She could be the Margaret shown in 1871. There is another Margaret later.
It is all confusing.

I would doubt that if you could find a birth for Kate Maguire Hurd it would name her father though.
