I've seen a few Holroyds from the Ripponden area in the 18th century described as shalloon makers (I had to google it) its a type of cloth, also weavers and combers

Thanks Paul - interesting occupation - not one in my list of archaic jobs and professions either! I think we might share some bits of tree on Ancestry by the way.
