Hi DomnicW
we are so pleased to know that the the tree we are putting together is right. My husband actually picked up a photograph of your grandmother ( his grand aunt) off what we now suspect is your family tree. We have next to no information on Henry due to family circumstances as his name was taboo but now that his daughter my mother in law has passed away we feel more able to try and find out about him and would dearly love to see a photo If  anyone has one . all  the information we have is what we have been able to pick up from records logged on the Internet.obviously we have only heard one side of the tale regarding his daughter  and would love to know what the other side was.  So no we probably don't know more than you and yes please we would live to know everything.

Hi Alexbeth and DominicW

I am interested to hear about Sarah Murmin Gilmour, Henry's sister. She was married to my grandmothers cousin John Gilmour.
Their were three brothers John, Daniel and Peter who moved from Cumbria and settled in the Northumberland area from about 1874 and they were still there as stated on the 1911 census. Their older brother Patrick, my Great-grandfather remained in Workington with his family where in died in 1910. Was John, Sarah's husband staying with him when they got married?

I would be delighted to hear from any of the Gilmour descendants.

Hello, TrishI

Sarah Murnin was the elder sister of my grandmother Elizabeth (Lizzie) Murnin.  I have very little information on Sarah's husband, but have some very reliable information about their descendants.  They had seven children: one of them, Sarah ("Sadie") Gilmour and Alexander Dalrymple had six of her own, while James Gilmour and Dora Lish had two daughters.  Patricia Ann, one of James's daughters lives in London and has been working on her family tree for some years.  The other, Kathleen, lives in Western Australia.

As teenagers, my mother Margaret ("Peggy") Peat and her brother Andrew were quite friendly with several of the Gilmour children, especially James, Peter, and Andrew.

Do you use Ancestry.com?  If so, you could see my tree (the WILLOTT tree) and we could exchange further information.

Dominic Willott

Hi
I have just registered with RootsChat and I am seeking information about Henry Murnin born 1893 in Workington Cumberland.  I have recently received my DNA report from Ancestry and find I have a connection to him.  I would be particularly interested in contacting Alexbeth but unfortunately cannot contact her personally until I have registered 3  posts.
