Isaac DARKIN
« on: Monday 06 April 15 21:01 BST (UK) »
Hi,

Isaac DARKIN, born 2 Apr 1740, Eastcheap, London, to parents Isaac Darkin, cork-cutter and Elizabeth Darkin, was a notorious highwayman and died 23 Mar 1761 on the gallows in Oxford.

In 1758 he joined the 48th Regiment of Foot and served briefly in Antigua. On his return to England he joined the navy aboard HMS Royal George in the position of midshipman.

I would be grateful for any assistance in determining the ancestry of this Isaac DARKIN.

Thanks,
Tinto

There is this record on paysites
ISAAC DARKIN
Prerogative Court of Canterbury Wills Index 1750-1800
Collections from Great Britain
Year 1753

When this Isacc Darkin died your Isacc Darkin would have been 13 years old.

Wikipeda said his father died in 1754 and that your man had a sister and that they took over running the fathers business, this suggests that there may have been something to inherit
Wemyss/Crombie/Laing/Blyth (West Wemyss)
Givens/Normand (Dysart)
Clark/Lister (Dysart)
Wilkinson/Simson (Kettle or Kettlehill)
