Where Am I No 9 (moved from WAI No 3).
« on: Tuesday 07 April 15 08:32 BST (UK) »
This one has been posted before, but it's been lost a bit on WAI No 3.  I originally posted three on the one thread because I only ever thought there would be a remote chance of identifying them, how wrong was I?  :D

Anyway, I thought it worth separating them now we have more clues!

I'm sure I have seen this one this one but I have looked at so many now I'm losing the will to live  ;D ;D ;D
Country Estates in Scotland...Stag Hunting Venues...Wedding venues in stately homes....National Trust..and boarding schools....ZILCH...A DUCK EGG.. nothing  :( ::) ::)
Some of them must have been demolished, destroyed during the war...or have been changed beyond recognition.

So far we have been amazingly lucky and all the ones that have been found still exist, but I guess our luck may run out sometime.

I don't know why but this one doesn't say private residence to me, more like some sort of formal institution.  However, it is again the same type of photo as the others that have been identified so I'm presuming it's the same photographer who appears to have spent their lives photographing well to do people's residences.

I wonder if any of the Clifton-Browns married photographers...or worked for life Country Life Magazine or something similar..Shooting or Hunting.... I have looked through the census returns at the C-Bs and the Hanburys residences and none of them fit...they all seemed to be city dwellers in and around London.

I wonder if somebody in the family is an architect, they seem very interested in different styles of large houses.
I think this one is styled on a French chateau, the roof line on the right is like old French manors.
This one http://www.waddesdon.org.uk/house/history-of-the-house is definitely not the one, but you can see the same influence in the architecture.

Strange that all the blinds are closed or half closed.

Reminds me of my Grandmother and great Aunts who drew the curtains when the sun shone in to avoid any long term damage to upholstery, furniture etc - not posh enough to have blinds.
