Can anyone help regarding Louisa Mary Eloise Furness

Posted for a colleague

I've been reaching my Gt Gt Grandmother birth for 20 years and haven't
had any luck. I wonder if anyone has anymore ideas where I can look next. Her name is Louisa Mary Eloise Furness. Born c 1830 in Marylebone, London (Middlesex). I have her marriage in 1851 to Henry William Ball , then I can trace her onwards. I believe her parents are George Furness and Margaret Haslehurst.

If she wasn't baptised (a lot of mine never were) then I'm afraid before 1837 registration then you'll be very lucky to find her birth.

The marriage in May 1851 gives her age as 19 and her father as George, occ Confectioner (decd)

ADDED  The surname is transcribed as Furneau,  the signature is not too clear

Where does the information about her mother being Margaret Haslehurst come from? Have you traced any other children to that couple, and/or found them in a census?

Separately - have you looked at the witnesses to the 1851 marriage in order to see whether they are connected?  They are William Chilcott Burge (a butler) and Uranie Burge (nee Guyot - they married in 1849).  Uranie is with their baby son William Louis Burge (b 1850) in Marylebone in the 1851 census.

Are you sure that it isn't Henry William Ball who has a mother called Margaret Haslehurst. (Marriage 1820 Camberwell to George Ball)

I wonder whether there is some confusion here?

The parents of a Henry William BALL b 1831 were George and Margaret (according to his baptism 28 Sep 1834 St Leonard, Shoreditch). George was a glass dealer, which matches the paternal occupation on the 1851 marriage of Henry William.


George BALL and Margaret HASLEHURST married at St Giles, Camberwell 4 June 1820. 


So perhaps Margaret nee Haslehurst was Louisa's mother-in-law, not her mother? ???
