John Stevenson=Jane Berry Parents
« on: Tuesday 07 April 15 22:54 BST (UK) »
Can anyone confirm the parents of the following couple?:

John Stevenson (Born 13 March 1791 in St. Ninian's Parish Stirling), married  Janet (aka Jane) Berry (born April 17, 1801 in Bo'Ness, West Lothian, Borrowstounness) on May 15 1819 in St.Ninian's Parish, Stirling.

I believe John's parents are James Stevenson and Agnes Stuart of St. Ninian's Parish in Stirling.

I believe Janet's parents are John Berry and Jean McNair of Bo'Ness, West Lothian, Borrowstounness.

If anyone can confirm the above parents information is correct I would be very grateful.

Answer:
Oops! Should have been 13 March 1791 for John's birthday (not 1891).
John was in the 1851 census but Jane wasn't. So Jane could have died sometime after she was recorded in the 1841 census. I checked their son Peter's wedding certificate March 30 1859 (he married Elizabeth Campbell) and it lists John Stevenson and Jane Berry as both being deceased.

Further, to be more clear, records show that James and Agnes Stuart did have a son John born 13 March, 1791. Records also show John Berry and Jean McNair (MacNair?) did have a daughter Janet (Jane) born April 17, 1801. My question is, are these individuals the John Stevenson and Jane Berry who married in St. Ninian's Parish  May 15, 1819? It all seems to fit together as my great-great grandparents are John and Jane and they are from the same locations as the individuals above. But I need to be positive I have found the right John and Jane's parents. If so, I can continue to trace back my family through James Stevenson and Agnes Stuart and John Stevenson and Jean McNair respectively.

I hope this makes my request a little more clear.

Thank you for your response, much appreciated.  Do you happen to know if Janet (Jane) born in 1801 in Bo'Ness (possibly my great-great grandmother) married John Stevenson at St. Ninian's in Stirling on the 15th of May in 1819. If so, this will confirm her as my relative and that I am also related to John Berry and Jean McNair (e.g. great-great-great grandparents).

If so, I would be happy to know of anything at all you know about this Berry family. I look forward to hearing from you.

Hi, as a beginner I incorrectly posted my first post in the beginners area of the site.
When I learned I was to post my query in the parish to which it pertains, I did so i.e. I posted a 2nd query in the Stirlingshire area and a 3rd in the West Lothian area of the site.
