Hi Brian you say that John went to Australia. Do you have any sources to show this? I have John (my great-grandfather) in Belfast as a sea captain married to Margaret Hagan but I have no other details about him. I really want to find out about my Scottish ancestry as my DNA suggests 32% Scottish which I knew nothing about and which I can only assume comes from the Manns

Lynne07, it is always useful to include some dates, even if only approximate.

Roughly when did your great-grandparents marry? And when did they emigrate?
Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.
