My grandmother was Florence dace but not that one you mention. She was born great wyrley 1886, Cannock Staffordshire. I may be able to help with English lines. There are loads round west midlands area and I know a lot of them link to other areas one being Cheshire. There are loads of john dace , its good when you find one with a middle name and they use it. A commom one is Edmund and gets changed to Edward. I've done dna as well.

I see your all having fun with the Dace family.
My grandmother is
Georgina Dace (Stockport, Manchester)
my great grandfather is
George Dace (Altrincham, Manchester)
D.O.B 24/01/1894 -
A brother/great aunts & uncles
Henry Dace D.O.B 25/04/1887 -
John Dace, Harry Dace, sister Nellie Dace.
All lived in Michigan, USA.
Highland Park, Wayne County. Also a Canadian link.
My great grandfather came back after the war to the UK.
My great uncles and aunts stayed in USA/Canada.

I know that George my great grandfather worked with his father as a Greengrocer in Altrincham, Manchester
As did some of the family members before joining the war effort in the USA/Canada. Possibly then living with some family members already living there.
George was in the
Canadian railway engineers,
Expeditionary force.
No1 construction battalion,
Valcartier Camp, Quebec,.

I have access to some information but I am also stuck trying to understand who emigrated first.
My family have always talked about a Canadian link.

Last thing. Someone mentions surname spelling.
Dace, D'acy, De Acy, Dacey.
Are all spelling variations of the Dace name throughout history. Google tells us more on this.

Hi weste.
Very interesting. I'm new to roots chat. I have used ancestry a few times and I need to go back and have a fresh go at the tree involving my grandmother's dace heritage. It takes alot of time. Maybe a dna test would settle some questions on relations and areas.
Have you thought of a dna test at all.

I've done an ancestry one about 3/4 years ago, uploaded to my heritage, have done 23 and me, living dna and ftdna. John aden dace works out to my 7th cousin. Think I may have some of yours on.I 've traced the line to 1700's. George Dace that married edith is 6c1r to me. I you dna test.Do ancestry as you can't upload dna from elsewhere to it. Its the biggest database.Think its on sale at the moment. I have got some dna matches from it. Those daces in Cheshire I've still got in England at the moment. We've got some links to some American lines like the misssouri , gor aussie links as well. I'm sending you a personal message.

I hope you are and your families are doing well. Looking over our conversation,
our Dace connections are strong.
We have connections exactly around Cannock, Cheslyn Hey, which is but 3 miles down road in and around Bloxwich.
Stay good.

Ryan, just read back over the thread, that mention of duce i have seen before. There's a big grave in wednesbury st bartholomew. It has duce on but names on it corresponds to the daces. Tried to take photos of the names a few years back but it was too big! I think i took one from a distance though. Those daces i had on a memorial inscription cd i think. I deffo took a photo of the church . I also got photos of dace grave in keyhill cemetery in the birmingham jewellery quarter, certainly from london.
