Welcome to rootschat, judels.

Could you say what information you have on the family, as you must know a little more to have got back to these people?

Do you know their parents?

Thank-you

For background:
According to the 1910 census, when they are living in the same household, she only arrived in 1900, whilst he was living there since 1866.  He was a naturalised citizen working at the Star of the Sea Church, and she assisted him.

Also, both in South Dakota in 1905 census, with an estimated arrival date for her of 1899 (index only, not images)

Added:
Both together in 1900 census, with a few more nuns, in Lead City, Lawrence, South Dakota.

Hi Judy,

Welcome to Rootschat from me to.

There is no diocesan-wide index to Catholic Records but it might be worth an e-mail to the 2 Diocese where you know that Father Nicholas and Sister Mary were. RootsChatters have been particularly fortunate in the past with bundles of info that has been given by the Catholic Hierarchy.

Have you contacted the Rapid City (Diocese) (Catholic-Hierarchy) to see if they have any sacramental records relating to Father Nicholas or Sister Mary ?  Or whether they could point you in a direction of where you might find these. The diocese included the county of Lawrence.

Los Angeles (Archdiocese) (Catholic-Hierarchy)

http://www.la-archdiocese.org/

Nicholas was recorded at Our Ladies Of Angels - Lewiston - Niagara in 1880 - which would come under  Buffalo (Diocese) (Catholic-Hierarchy)

You seem to have census information on the brother and sister in the USA so is it information from Wexford that you are specifically looking for  ???

Regards
Sandra

I should have been more clear. I am looking for the Ireland   side of things. Not sure who there parents were. Patrick Redmond may have been his father, mother maiden name Allen or Alleu or  Allew. An looking to find the order Sister Redmond belonged to.

We probably thought you wanted the Irish information, but just seeing what was easily available until you made it more clear.

The census information gave Sister Mary helping her brother at this church, so will that define her order?:

Added: Possibly not if they are all male.

Hi Judels,

Probably in your best interests if this thread was moved to County Wexford since it was mentioned on a passenger list that they had a brother James Redmond in Gorey County Wexford.
One of the experts for Ireland is Aghadowey and she would know that area very well.

Thanks all for your speedy replies. I think co Wexford is the place to go. Much appreciated. Fr Redmond had some pull in the church. He was an acting Bishop, so I think he just went back and got his sister to help him.
