Shipping lists in Britain

I am wondering if there is any shipping lists in Britain for people migrating to Australia, or working their way to Australia, particularly in the 1850's or 1860's. Surely records were kept

If you think your person of interest went to Australia, post the details on the

Australia board...there are marvellously knowledgeable researchers on there

The remaining Outward Passenger Lists, compiled by the Board of Trade, only exist from 1890.

So, you'll be better examining incoming lists at the Australian end.

Thanks to both of you. I use Public Records Office of Victoria, and also South Australian records but the Assisted Passengers start too late. I will try what you have provided for Tassie, Queensland and New South Wales. Thanks Joyful, I have my answer.

Victoria only became a separate colony in 1851, prior to that it was part of New South Wales. if you look in NSW State Records on link provided by CB53 Port Phillip passenger lists are for ports that became Victoria in 1851.

Thank you very much. I couldn't find William Carpenter but I did find 2 Elizabeth Roberts in the NSW list and I will seek help from someone in Sydney for more information
