Negus Ancestry-Northamptonshire

I am trying to find information on the ancestors of Francis NEGUS and Sarah LENTON who married June 12 1815 in Oundle. Francis might have been the son of John NEGUS(b.in Ashton) and Dorothy WRIGHT but as I cannot travel to England(I'm Canadian)I can't verify this. I also believe Sarah was born in Nuneaton,Warwickshire as the daughter of John Lenton and Elizabeth Smith;I haven't explored Warwickshire records enough to confirm this and it's not that important at the moment anyway.

Francis's son John(1819-1899)and his wife Harriet SMITH(1830-1885)emigrated to Canada between 1851-1854,when their daughter Chrisana(1854-1929)was born in St.Andrews,New Brunswick. With them were their two sons,Francis(1849-1878)and John(1851-1898),both born in Harriet's birthplace of Barton upon Humber in Lincolnshire. They settled in Westmorland County and are buried there.

I am mainly looking for Francis's ancestry at the moment-I have had great difficulty in this as it is a rare name to research outside of Canada. I would also be interested to know if there is a link to Romania as I've noticed the name is also used there.

I was hoping to avoid subscription sites,and even Ancestry's info I find can be very limiting regardless. Anyway,did the Baptisms Index show the names of Francis's parents? It would help to confirm whether or not they were John and Dorothy. At least now I know that he wasn't an only child.
